This is a new trip designed to offer Guides a fun day of play in the Imperial Sand Dunes. This will be a low structured trip, with room for creative activities, frolicking in the sand, and bonding with other Guides. If time allows, the group may stop at Salvation Mountain on the way back to Point Loma. Salvation Mountain is a popular piece of desert art, created by one man using a lot of paint.

About the Trip & Itinerary

The group will meet at 8:00am in the ARC on PLNU campus, do some introductions and then load into the vans! It is approximately a 2:30 hour drive to Imperial Sand Dunes. Once at the dunes, we will unload and play in the sand. When we have tired ourselves of playing, we will break for lunch. After lunch we will either have more "play time" or relocate to sight see Salvation Mountain. We will depart in the mid-afternoon, stopping for dinner on the way home. Expect to be back at PLNU by 8:00pm. This is the perfect trip for guides who wish to enjoy the sand dunes without structured hikes. Let your imaginations run free as you wander up and down the sand dunes.

Price >> $20.00

Physical

This trip will consist of sliding down dunes and climbing back up. It can be as physically straining or simple as you desire, depending on how much you desire to "play in the sand"

Fitness Rating: 2 out of 5 difficulty

Safety & Risk Management

High wind gusts are common in this area. Be cautious of eyes and mouth as the sand gets picked up in the wind.
